Smartfish is hiring a Product Development and Quality Manager

As a Product Development and Quality Manager you will become an integral part of the R&D team in a company in an exciting growth phase. You will work in an open and dynamic environment and be surrounded by employees with a "founders' mentality" who have a strong drive to develop the company.

Your role

In the role as Product Development and Quality Manager, you are part of a small R&D team which has overall responsibility for idea generation to development of commercial products that contribute to increased quality of life and health for patients and consumers. Our product portfolio contains medical nutrition products used to improve the nutritional status of malnourished or undernourished patients as well as sport products used by top athletes across the professional and amateur spheres. In the role, you have a great opportunity to influence the development of our product portfolio.

The position offers great creative freedom and collaboration with many internal and external stakeholders. You will be involved in the entire product chain including quality control, nutritional aspects, and process technology. You will join our team in a very exciting phase where you will play an active role in ensuring development and results of ongoing and new projects. The role allows for personal growth and expansion of knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities and tasks

A high portion of your work will consist of projects; hence it is important that you are structured, independent, and work well in teams. You will drive your tasks in projects from start to finish effectively. You will work in the office located in the new office building, The Spark, at Medicon Village in Lund, in lab environments, and in pilot facilities.

The role includes the following tasks:

  • develop formulations and processes
  • select, order, and evaluate raw materials and packaging materials
  • plan and execute laboratory tests
  • plan and follow-up stability tests
  • evaluate and analyse different preparations
  • plan and manage pilot productions
  • plan and manage upscaling work and technical transfers to the contract manufacturer of commercial product
  • follow-up and evaluate contract manufacturing
  • regulatory affairs
  • customer support

Your qualifications

Master’s Degree or preferably PhD in food science and technology, food engineering, chemistry, or agriculture. A minimum of 10 years’ experience with product development and research from the food industry. You should also have experience with quality management systems (HACCP, BRC, and FSSC22000), product quality work, and good practice of regulatory affairs, preferably within FSMP. You have high proficiency in oral and written Swedish and English. You need a driver's license and have access to your own car to commute between your various workplaces.
